Online TV

Wow, now that I've been a little less busy during lunch, thanks to Erin, I found out that ABC and NBC have a lot of their shows online! I missed Heroes last season because it conflicted with something else I was TiVoing. I wanted to watch it once it came out on DVD, but now I don't have to wait! I've been watching the eps online!!! I love it! What a brilliant idea! I'm on episode 4. Friday Night Lights is next!

Can we just be friends?

Well, it's been a while since I've mentioned 23, the guy I was dating last year for a little while. I liked him for many reasons and then he broke up with me because he wasn't over his ex-girlfriend yet. Quite understandable. I was already concerned because I thought he was too young for me anyway, so it worked out quite nicely.

I was talking with my co-worker a couple days ago and she brought up the time that he had pulled my chair out for me when we were eating at the Great Steak and Potato Company one night. A memorable event indeed! That got me thinking... I wonder how he's doing? I know Erin ran into him at a Neko Case concert in February, but I haven't tried contacting him at all since we broke up. Initially, I was too sad about the whole thing and since I got over it, I've just been preoccupied with other stuff.

A couple nights ago, I was sorting through some pictures on my hard drive and ran across a picture of him. So I figured I'd just drop a line and say "hi!" We've exchanged a couple emails and looks like we'll be hanging out sometime, hopefully soon. I did truly like him and always thought that he was pretty cool to hang out with. I think we could actually be friends and not in a weird way, which is a great feeling to have about someone. He apparently feels the same way, so it looks like I will have a new friend.

This will be interesting for me. Over the last year, I've managed to stay "friends" with most of the guys I've dated, which is a totally new experience for me. I'd never really done that in the past. I'm looking forward to it. I have a good feeling about it!

Buckling down on the eHarmony train

Lately, I've been making a better effort to really answer all the questions that my matches have been sending me. So now I'm at "open communication" with several of them, just trying to set up times to meet. I am visiting a friend out in Kansas City the first weekend in May and after that, I think I'm home for the next six weekends!!! Hallelujah! I think that may be the longest I haven't been on a plane in a long time! Not that I mind it at all, but I think it would be nice to unpack stuff before I reach the one year anniversary of living all by myself in my apartment!

Back to the eHarmony guys... there is one in particular that I'm very interested in. I can't lie. He's VERY cute! And he likes Disneyland. And he buys a different DL hat every time he goes (have I ever mentioned that I like hats?). He really liked one of the pics I have on my profile of myself with my Minnie ears on! I just sent him an email. He asked about getting together this weekend, so we'll see if that works out. I suggested Sunday evening because I'm pretty much busy the rest of the weekend.

As for the cute gamer guy with whom I had the awkward first call, I haven't heard from him at all. So, I guess that's that. I followed Erin's advice because I knew it was right and I didn't call or email him to prod him. The good thing is that I believe that is the right decision.

There are several others and at this point, I'm trying to just let them ride til next week because I know I'm busy the next two weekends. I'm hoping to meet up with many of them during May since I'll be home most of the month! That way, I'll either know they're a match or not and I can go from there. Every time I log in and see the long list of guys, I just feel a bit overwhelmed. I guess that's the problem with having too much fun stuff to do. The dating kind of falls by the wayside. I've been trying to bump up the importance of that recently. I love my friends, but unfortunately, they won't keep me warm at night!

Awesome Thanksgiving

We had an awesome Thanksgiving! I broke one casserole dish as I was drying it, but other than that, no major disasters!! In fact, everything was beautiful!

Here's a picture of my awesome turkey:

Roasted Turkey

This turkey was from Shelton Farms and it was a free-range, antibiotic/hormone-free turkey. It was delicious! And it was 24 pounds!! I could barely lift it into and out of the oven!

Here's a picture of the first table of side dishes:

Side dishes

We were all hungry by the time dinner was served, so a lot of it has food missing. Let's see we had yams with pecans, green salad, orange jell-o salad, pumpkin pie, vegetable crudite, M&Ms (peanut and plain, dark chocolate ones), green bean casserole, broccoli-mushroom casserole, deviled eggs (made with blue cheese and bacon), mashed potatoes, and yellow squash casserole.

Second side dish table

On the buffet, we had the turkey (beautifully carved by Stephanie R.), cranberry salad, creamed cornbread stuffing and bread stuffing.

I forgot to take a picture of it, but for dessert, we had four different kinds of cheesecakes (Snickers, 3 Musketeers, Reese's PB cups, Midnight Milky Ways), pumpkin pie, apple pie and pecan pies. All desserts were homemade and delicious!!!!

After dessert, we played some Guitar Hero (what else?) and had a great time with that. Shane played some Skipbo with various people too.

Here are some Guitar Hero photos:

Erin and Travis playing Guitar Hero

Erin and Steph playing Guitar Hero - hard song!

Steph playing Guitar Hero - we failed and got booed off the stage!

Dave and Steph playing "Rock this Town" - most likely since it's "our song"

All in all, a super fun evening with great food and great friends. Last year was the first year I didn't do Thanksgiving strictly with family. I think these last two Thanksgivings have been the best ones yet! I expect they will only improve in the future.

Moving

Moving sucks. That's all there is to it! I helped my friend Erin move a couple carloads of stuff and I'm beat!! Time to go to bed!
