Evie is doing much better! She came down with a fever, so the vet prescribed two different liquid antibiotics (yea for me!). While I'm trying to hold her down to shove icky Pepto-Bismol pink looking antibiotics down her throat, I was thinking... "Where's Jason when I need him?!" :-) He always handled all animal issues which meant me never giving a cat a pill or shoving liquid stuff down their throats.
On with the update... the antibiotics worked to bring down her fever and since they did, I canceled the appointment I had with the specialist to get the ultrasound done. That, by the way, was going to cost $560. So far, she seems to be maintaining her health and she's been acting normal. The vet said that if she stops eating again and is acting sick, I should take her to the internist. It's been about a week since she's seemed better, so I'm hoping she had some intestinal bug that the medicine cleared up and we're home free for now.
Thanks to everyone who has been asking about her!! I should post a picture. It's been a while. I'll try to do that tonight!
Too many people just sit and let life pass them by! I don't want to do that!

Kitty Update
I finally got results from Evie's blood test and urinalysis yesterday. The good news is that she's not diabetic and her kidneys & liver seem fine. The bad news is that she had a fever this time (which she did not on Monday) and they still aren't sure what's wrong with her.
The most likely prospects at the moment are pancreatitis or some kind of intestinal issue. When I took Evie in yesterday, they did an IV rehydration again and gave her three shots: pencillin (to help the fever), pain killer (so that she would hopefully start eating again) and vitamin B-12 (apparently, the beginning of a course of treatment for her if it is pancreatitis).
I have to take her in again today, so that they can check to see if her fever has gone down. She has been a bit more mobile and she's been seeming more interested in food, but she still won't eat anything. Surprisingly, she still hasn't lost any weight yet either. Hrmmm...
One thing that sucks is that this has cost some serious cash! I spent $172 yesterday for the visit, so now we're up to $414. The only way to diagnose pancreatitis for sure is to do an ultrasound and I don't know how much that costs, but my guess is that it's like $500 or something. Geez! It's a good thing I got a bonus check last week! Between Evie getting sick and doing the 120K mile major service on my car today, that should just about take care of it!
And thank you to everyone who's been inquiring about her. She is doing a bit better and I'm happy about that!

My kitty is sick!
I was somewhat busy this past weekend and when I got home late Sunday night, I noticed that my kitty Evie was acting weird. First off, she always greets me at the door, which she did not do on Sunday night. I noticed that and looked for her and she was laying a bit awkwardly behind the dining room table. She wobbly walked over to the cat box to pee and then plopped herself back down next to the water. She was still in the same spot when I woke up, which is also weird because she is usually planted right next to me at bedtime.
I have no idea what could be wrong with her, but I made an appointment to take her to the vet at noon today. It's a new vet for me, but I have a friend who goes there. We'll see what they can figure out!
Update: I took her to the vet and she doesn't have a fever. The vet couldn't tell what was wrong with her from looking at her, so she took some blood and rehydrated her (since she was a little dehydrated). I'm in the process of trying to collect a urine sample too. FUN! I have Evie locked up in the bathroom with some food and water and a makeshift litter box with fake kitty litter in it. I hope she uses it while I'm gone. All I know is that she isn't interested in eating which is REALLY weird for my cats. They are usually pigs (in cats' clothing...)! Total cost so far? $242
